General instructions
The Scientific Committee will evaluate the abstracts and will confirm the type of presentation and scientific theme and/or session retained.
Deadline for abstract submission: 8th June 2026
- The conference official language is English. Please submit your abstract accordingly.
- Maximum 300 words (title not included).
- When applicable, and appropriate, abstracts should be structured with the following subheading: Introduction and objectives; Materials and methods; Results, discussion and conclusion.
- If your presentation (poster or oral communication) is selected, all presenters must register and attend the conference in person to present.
Themes
The ESOVE ECP aims to support the professional development, community building, and visibility of early career professionals (ECPs) working in the field of vector ecology. Participation is this specific session is open to anyone who identifies as an early career professional (within the European Branch of SOVE) working on vector-borne diseases or vector ecology, including but not limited to students, postdocs, and professionals in academia, government, NGOs, or industry.

(ECP-EDC) invites to a session focused on the real challenges and opportunities early-career researchers face in vector ecology and related fields.
This session brings together two key topics, career development and research funding, in a practical and discussion-focused format.
Session Structure
- Opening Talk – The Funding Landscape
An overview of funding opportunities, common challenges, and barriers, with practical insights on how to approach grant applications at different career stages
- Panel Discussion and Q&A
A panel with speakers from different sectors (academia, public health, industry, NGOs) sharing their funding experiences, and lessons learned with open discussion where participants can ask questions and get direct input from speakers.
Why Participate?
This session aims to:
- Provide a clearer understanding of how funding works in practice
- Explore and discuss funding opportunities across different sectors.
- Create space for honest discussion about challenges and expectations
- Share practical advice that early-career researchers can use immediately
We aim to create a session that is useful, realistic, and directly relevant to early-career professionals across different backgrounds and regions.

For oral communications
- Abstracts selected for an oral presentation will be 20 minutes long (15 min talk and 5 min for questions).
- A laptop (PC and Mac) will be available for speakers.
- Posters will be installed on the first day of the conference.
- One poster session will allow participants to come and discuss with the authors, who will be asked to stand next to their poster during the sessions.
- The size of the poster will be announced together with the abstract resolution.
- Fixings will be provided.
- Keynote speaker presentations will be 35 minutes long (20-30 min talk and 5-10 min for questions).
